Burlington is a beautiful city nestling along the banks of Lake Ontario, and is situated incomparably just an hour from Niagara Falls and Toronto, Canada. The city is home to a huge number of attractions, particularly those related to nature.
The Royal Botanical Gardens outdoor gardens here, with flowers in full bloom in season. There are nature trails, with a huge variety of sights. The Niagara Escarpment, the huge number of museums and galleries here make for a great destination. The waterfront here has more than a hundred and fifty bird species.
Burlington has a wonderful aspect about it, – whatever be the time of the year, the city does have something on offer for its visitors. The famous Annual Sound of Music Festival takes place every year on the occasion of fathers’ day. There are some top musicians from all over Canada performing at the festival. This is held in numerous crowd pleaser venues that has included waterfront stages, bistro patios and more.
If you are fond of outdoor activities, there are quite a few opportunities for fun activities. The city has more than a hundred and fifteen parks comprising more than three hundred and twenty five hectares of parkland all over the city. There are activities such as golf, water sports and a huge number of others. There is literally no dearth of quality.
Winters are when the city sees an exhilarating period of the year with something on offer for everybody. Downhill skiing and snowboarding is available on the 12 ski slopes at Glen Eden Ski Centre.
The Bruce Trail is the oldest footpath in the world, and is home to twelve hundred kilo meters of pristine natural beauty. There are numerous outdoor and indoor skating rinks located for skating enthusiasts. The winter carnival is celebrated in full form here. The Festival of Lights is celebrated at Spencer Smith Park.
Burlington is among Ontario’s most bike and pedestrian friendly cities. There are a number of trails for hiking as well as biking. This is inclusive of the waterfront trail, a twenty three kilo meter path that goes along the waterfront, and offers some superb views.
