One of the must London things to do is to leisurely stroll via the Royal Parks of the city. I would recommend starting it from the Paddington station from where it is really exciting to move towards the Hyde Park, St James Park, Kensington Gardens, and Green Park where you can see the Buckingham Palace after which you cross the Trafalgar Square, South Bank of River Thames, and Waterloo Station. This would take your half a day and in between, you can halt at many places for eating, sitting, and shopping.

Among the incredible London things to do is the summer skating. Yes, skating in summer! Look for a live roller skating area offering street hockey, dance venues, freestyle slalom, speed skating, and recreational skating. Most of the venues are flanking the Hyde Park as well as the Kensington Gardens.

Usually held during the September’s third weekend is the Open House London Weekend. This is the time when a majority of the most appealing structures that are not otherwise open, welcome one and all for an exciting tour. The only that you need to find out is that which of them need booking in advance. It goes without saying that you need to perform this search online.83703896_TowerofLondon2

The world has amazing and breathtaking attractions to offer to the humankind. Some love to explore natural beauties, some love historical places, and some hunts for the other attractions. Being a traveller, I have always gone to explore places of different interests. This time, as I was in London for some work, I thought to see the other attractions that could give me past and modern blend. Besides the major landmarks including the Eiffel Tower, I planned to visit this time at the National Gallery of London.

London is a fantastic place in Europe that offers almost everything. The National Gallery lies in the Trafalgar Square of London, Great Britain, which is among the largest art galleries in the world. The National Gallery is the pride of Europe, as it houses vast collection of beautiful paintings. While I entered the building, the entire environment has changed suddenly, giving me a deep pleasure of the past life through the paintings of prominent painters. It was John Julius Angerstein, who born in the year 1735 in St. Petersburg. He discovered the rising interests in fine arts and started building his own private collection of paintings by Italian, Flemish, and German masters.
Until the year 1823 when he died, he had a collection of 38 paintings. These painting were offered for sale to the government and were purchased by the House of Commons for 57,000 pounds. The major problem aroused was of suitable building where those paintings could be displayed. The painting was then housed in the own London house of Angerstein, which is an exclusive residence on Pall Mall. The history started from here and lasted for a long until the National Gallery was came into existence.

The National Gallery offers amazing and renowned paintings including the 1750’s Mr. and Mrs. Andrews done by Thomas Gainsborough. If you are an art fanatic, you simply cannot miss to visit this world popular gallery. One of theScreen-shot-2011-04-15-at-8.19.36-AM major examples of Renaissance paintings that could be found at this gallery is the Birth of Christ, 1470 done by Piero della Francesca.

As the National Gallery of London is one of the largest art museums in the world, you can see various works of prominent painters like Raffael, Titian, Holbein the younger, Rubens, and EI Greco. Besides them, you can also see works done by great British artists like Reynolds, Constable, and Gainsborough. Number of exhibits took place in the museum that offergreat works and will definitely entice you to the fullest.

Experiencing such a great museum has changed my life and views about the fine arts. My respect towards art works has increased and I hope to visit some other art museums during my next vacation. Housing among the finest collection of western European paintings, London’s National Gallery has a charming power to grab complete attentions of the visitors.

The Glorious Beaches of Sydney, Australia

Discover some of Sydney’s 70 sparkling beaches, from secluded bays to world-famous strips of sand.

Sydney’s beaches will be beckoning before you even land in Botany. You might see them flying in – a long, golden chain split across both sides of the harbour and fringed by green bush and sea. Or the welcome video on the plane might start famous images of Bondi Beach repeating in your head. If you’re an avid surfer, sun-worshipper or just love the sea, you’ll be itching to get onto the waves, smelling the salt air or nestled nicely on the sand.

It’s no wonder they’re calling to you. Sydney has more than 70 sparkling beaches, from secluded bays backed by bush and national park to world-famous strips of sand. What’s more, they are all within easy reach of Sydney’s harbourside heart.

If you want to start with the most iconic, jump on the bus to Bondi Beach, where surfers, hippies, families and local and international tourists converge. Swim or run along the kilometre of golden grains and brave the breaks with a surf school. Watch the passing talent on the promenade or sip a sunset cocktail above the Icebergs rock pool.

You can add crashing waves and fine salt spray to your water views on the winding Bondi to Bronte walk. These chiselled sandstone cliffs become the backdrop for the Sculptures by the Sea exhibition in late October. Walk them to Tamarama (nicknamed Glamarama by the locals for the beautiful bodies it attracts) and family-friendly Bronte. Further along the coast you’ll find the snorkelling havens of Clovelly and Mediterranean-looking Gordon’s Bay, calm Coogee bustling with backpackers and Maroubra with its huge waves.

Complete your tour of Sydney’s eastern beaches with a trip to Watsons Bay, Australia’s oldest fishing village at the southern entrance to Sydney Harbour. The views on the dramatic, cliff-hugging drive there are worth it alone.  Eat fish and chips from Sydney’s most famous seafood restaurant, take in the Tasman Sea on a walk past lighthouses and The Gap and swim at small, secluded coves.

When you’re ready to head north of the harbour, hop on a ferry or Jetcat to Manly and see why it’s a Sydneysider’s favourite.  Meander through native bushland on the Manly to Spit Bridge walk and ride a bike to Fairy Bower. Swim at the ocean surf beaches or in the tranquil inner harbour. Snorkel at tiny Shelly Beach and watch colourful lorikeets fill the Norfolk Pines at dusk. Manly also has great shops and a dining scene that takes the taste buds on a world tour. Manly_Beach

From Manly, local buses take you to the northern beaches of Curl Curl, Dee Why, Narrabeen, Mona Vale, Newport and Avalon – all famous for their laidback lifestyle and surf. Eventually you’ll reach Palm Beach, a long and beautiful strip of sand edging onto a golf course, lush bushland and dunes.

Many beaches edge onto harbour waters, but the most popular of them all is gorgeous Balmoral. Strung with cafes and a couple of fine restaurants, Balmoral is a trendy and scenic north-shore suburb with a resident flock of sulphur-crested cockatoos.

If you’re tired of rolling waves, Sydney’s saltwater pools and netted enclosures are the quiet alternatives. They’re perfect for family fun with small children, lap swimming or just floating on your back and looking at the sky. You’ll find some washed by ocean waves, some hugging the harbour and some with million-dollar city views.

You can see why Sydney’s beaches are too seductive to resist.

Alibaug is an idyllic town on the western coast of India, known as the Konkan region. It lies on almost the same latitude as the southern tip of Mumbai and is very close to this tip across the narrow strip of the Arabian Sea.

By road it is a three-hour drive from Mumbai as the route winds north from the Mumbai peninsula to Navi Mumbai and then curves and moves south along the mainland coast. Alibag has a lovely beach that is unspoiled. There is a historic fort that is now in ruins just off the beach. The hill range of the Western Ghats line the other side of the city giving it a unique character of greenery and the blue of the ocean. It’s a wonderful place to take a relaxed vacation with nothing on your mind. Alibag is a place for a vacation. An unhurried pace of life is a small town with a beautiful beach and the green hills on the other side, free of pollution and noise.

Alibag is quiet with a moderate number of tourists who come over on the weekend. Alibag is a frequent getaway for people in Mumbai with many owning farmhouses off the beach. The launch from Mumbai makes it closer although during the monsoons a boat ride is not advisable.
Alibag is an old town relating to the Maratha.

History of Alibaug
Alibag is about 300 years old city. If you get down at Alibag bus stand…You will be surprized… Why this guy is calling it as a city? No…It is a village (in US terms) and a town (in Indian terms). So don’t blame me…I have already warned you !!!
Here is a short essay about the history of Alibag. If you find it too boring..just skip it…For the sake of completeness I am adding it.
Alibag was developed in the 17th century by Sarkhel Kanhoji Angre, the Naval chief of King Shivaji’s kingdom.

Declared as a Taluka place in 1852.GETT OFF AT MANDVA
Added four Talukas and Kulaba district was formed in 1869.
Many people used to call Alibag as Shribag. (Specially our Sanskrit teacher). Now they formed ‘Shribag’ as a part of Alibag. Some people used to mention Alibaug as ‘Kulaba’.
The population of alibag was around 5000 in 1881. (I don’t guarantee about the authenticity of this information. I read it somewhere on internet)
Starting of Schools in 1924.
Alibag was not directly connected to Mumbai at that time. People used to travel by sea from Revas, Dharmtar or Mankule. The scenario changed in 1964. The bridge of Dharamtar Creek was built, alibag got attached to the other cities like Mumbai.
Earlier Mangaon was the main place of Raigad district.
Now??? ….Ofcourse Alibag !!!
